American Express ran a series of commercials several years ago asserting that membership has its privileges. It then proceeded to spell out such benefits if you owned their credit card. Never mind that it came with a price – high interest plus an annual fee!
When it comes to Christianity, membership also has its privileges. Numerous are the plethora of blessings spelled out in scripture of such benefits for belonging to the family of God. It too comes with a price, but the price has already been paid – the precious blood of the Lamb of God.
Unlike American Express, in Christianity you carry an internal membership card whereby the Spirit has sealed you until the day of redemption (Ephesians 4:30). The moment you believed in Christ is the day you were adopted as a son and recognized as a citizen. Heaven opened its gates and awaits your entrance. What amazing grace!
