The devaluing of life initially attacks the extremes – the youngest (i.e. “products of conception” in the mother’s womb) and the oldest (i.e. elderly and shut ins). After all, the unborn are not even human and the elderly have already outlived their useful life.
But why stop there? Since the mentally handicapped contribute nothing, let’s remove them. Little children are a financial drain on parents, so remove them. Many of today’s younger generation are aimless and purposeless, so let’s remove them. God knows there are multitudes of lazy workers (not just on roadside projects), so let’s remove them. The unemployed? The below-average students? The overweight? The physically handicapped? Remove them all. The …
Truth is, when you begin down the slippery slope, the descent is incredibly steep. Instead, take the higher road of sanctity where man is made in God’s image (Genesis 1:26-27)!
