“Doctor’s orders!” While that brief phrase carries some clout, it also arrives with it a bit of uncertainty. Since it concerns our body, we are usually willing to listen to someone who knows more than we do, even if we are the one enduring the pain. However, we also know that the doctor is not fallible and sometimes may prescribe a course of action that is either unnecessary, too conservative or perhaps, too invasive to our liking.
But when we turn to the Doctor, the Great Physician who created humanity and breathed into us the breath of life, our apprehensions and reservations and concerns should dissipate. The One who made man certainly knows how he works and this One who is holy certainly knows what (sinfully) ails us. Though there may be a time when we are leery of listening to our medical doctor, may we clearly listen to the Doctor as He whispers through His Word the best course of action. It’s the best medicine on the market!
