A Minute With Pastor — 06/21/2009

Been thinking about fatherhood in light of some common phrases.  If a “woman’s work is never done,” does that mean a man’s work is always done?  If “momma ain’t happy, then nobody’s happy,” does that mean that if daddy’s happy, it doesn’t really matter?  If “a woman’s place is in the home,” then is man resigned to the dog house out back?  If “behind every good man is a good woman,” then who is behind a bad man?

As important and vital the mother, God’s place for the man is uniquely one of leadership – in the home, work-place and church.  Dads, if you are not leading the way, few will follow.  If you are not setting high the bar of holiness, your family will have little to aim for.  If you are not blazing new trails, you will sink your family into complacency.  And if you choose to be a father wholly committed to God, expecting great things from God and attempting great things for God, you will leave an indelible mark as you fix your family’s gaze on Jesus!
