Independence … What an amazing and liberating word to let resonate in your thoughts. As U.S. citizens, we have freedom that many countries do not possess. We have the freedom to work where we want, to attend any college we desire, to live in what neighborhood we choose, and to select a lifelong partner in marriage!
What great freedom! Yet even more so, we have the right to worship here in America, a freedom which multitudes embrace through a plethora of religious diversity in this country. We tend to take that right for granted; nevertheless, it is that which many in our world do not have.
But above even the right of religion, there is one far greater freedom – a freedom that comes only to those in Christ. As believers, we have been set free from sin. The right to religion is temporal, but the freedom from sin is eternal. Which one are you celebrating today?
