The highways do a great service in warning us about potential challenges ahead. Overhead digital signs inform about traffic jams and accidents; patrol cars flash their lights at the beginning of a congested area; yellow and orange signs make their presence in construction zones. All these warnings prepare the driver for what he is about to speed into.
Could the same be said about the Christian life when it comes to the body of Christ? Indeed, the Holy Spirit it the director of truth and grieves us of sin. To be sure, the Scriptures are abundantly clear about the dangers of foolishness, naivety, laziness, etc. But God has also positioned you into the body, His body. And within that body, certain obligations ring out.
Are you on the lookout for wayward people? We must first look inward, but are you then aware of and concerned with those who may be skidding into trouble?
