It’s the name of a Motown vocal group, a chocolate factory, a gift boutique, a bridal store, a restaurant, and a jewelry business. But much closer to home, it is what draws us to the precipice of some not-so-good choices. What is it? Temptation.
Jesus thought so much of it that He included it in the “Model Prayer” of Matthew 6: “And do not lead us into temptation” (6:13). That came on the heels of his own temptation from Satan in Matthew 4.
What’s a Christian to do when it comes to battling temptation? Stick his head in the sand? Deny its effect? Live in his prayer closet 24/7? There are answers and God’s Word clues us in through the responses of none other than Jesus Himself in His tempting by Satan in the wilderness. Remember, God has given us all the tools we need for life and godliness. Follow the steps of the Savior from Matthew 4.
