Life certainly isn’t free. Venture down to a local sports arena and you’ll quickly discover how much just a bottle of water costs! Water that falls freely from the sky yet is placed in a nice plastic bottle and given a sizable price tag. Evian, a French brand of spring water, is sold here in America. Have you ever considered what word Evian spelled backwards makes?
Truth is, everything costs something. It is no different when it comes to following Christ. There are costs that accompany your life as a believer. Such costs are not comfortable and minor, but significant and exacting. Christ Himself declared this: “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me” (Matthew 16:24).
So why count the costs and follow Jesus? Because He is God and His Word is true. It’ll be worth it all!
