A Minute With Pastor — 08/15/2010

Television shows succeed or fail, for the most part, by the ratings they receive from the public.  Some make it only a few episodes, some for a year, while some continue for many seasons.  The same is true for most products, services and companies.  If the general public generally embraces it, survival is fairly guaranteed.

Most of us live the same way, whether we consciously know it or not.  We seek the approval of others — the children, the mother-in-law, the boss, the neighbor, the teacher.  We want to be liked and accepted by others, so we tend to do and be what it takes to be approved.

Yet when it comes to our walk with the Lord, only His assessment ultimately matters.  We are exhorted to seek His approval, not the world’s.  We have been called to please Him, not those around us (2 Corinthians 5:9; Galatians 1:10; Ephesians 6:6; Colossians 1:10; 1 Thessalonians 2:4).  Only His appraisal truly matters!  Who’s approval are you living for today?
