A Minute With Pastor — 08/22/2010

By the time I was 21, I had been dismissed from a job at McDonald’s, fired as a cook at Pondersoa, replaced as a nightwatchman at Kmart, and despite a college degree, was unemployed and living on welfare.  Those mega-doses of rejection certainly can humble a person.

None of us is immune from incidents or circumstances where we have been turned down, turned away, or turned back.  Life is filled with rejection.  For the believer, rejection and hatred only increase as you follow more closely the steps of Jesus (John 15:18).

In the face of such rejection, however, you have all the acceptance you need.  In the glorious first chapter of the Book of Ephesians, the Apostle Paul declares: “To the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He has made us accepted in the Beloved” (1:6).  Yes, you will be rejected in this world and in this life.  But how much greater are you fully accepted in Christ!
