A Minute With Pastor — 09/06/2009
On the first day of class, many students are under the impression that it’s not very important, that little is covered, that nothing substantial takes place. Yes, you might get a syllabus or a course description, but the teacher sort of just blabs through a series of endless statements (i.e. rambles) that won’t be on the test, so why listen. Right?
Welcome to the first day of class in the Book of Daniel! No, there isn’t a test today (or later), but what is covered sets the tone, lays the foundation, and creates the ambience in which a better understanding of the material to follow can be grasped. Give a listen this morning as the introduction to Daniel unfolds.
The historical context, the biblical setting, the overall structure, etc. are important nuances in proper interpretation. Bypassing this step might just cause you to miss the purpose and the intent of God in the book!
