There are many warnings in Scripture to be careful to what voices you listen – and the voices are many!
Satan: “Has God indeed said?” (Genesis 3:1)
Atheist: “There is no God.” (Psalm 14:1)
Allurement: “Come, let us take our fill … let us delight ourselves” (Proverbs 7:18)
Humanist: “There is a way that seems right to man (but its end is the way of death)” (Proverbs 16:25)
Religionist: “I fast twice a week; I give all” (Lk 18:12)
Philosopher: “You are bringing some strange things to our ears (And we like it!)” (Acts 17:20)
Busyness: “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell” (Jms 4:13)
What voice are you listening to today? That still small voice (1 Kgs 19:12) continues to cry out from His Word: “Be still, and know that I am God!” (Ps. 46:10).
