History

In March of 1986, the first meetings of what would become Fellowship Baptist Church were held, spearheaded by Les Newell, the church’s founding pastor. Though obstacles were many as the church’s meeting places moved from an individual’s home to a catering establishment to the meeting room of a bank, God blessed with gradual growth. In the next several years, incorporation, purchase of land at our present location, and application for a building permit followed. Ground breaking for the present building began in August, 1988 and the congregation moved into the building in January, 1989. Growth continued under Pastor Newell’s tenure as he weathered the loss of his dear wife.

In April of 1995, Pastor Newell resigned to continue his desire to plant and revitalize churches. Two months later, the church voted to make Jon Young its second pastor. Under his leadership, the ministry expanded and grew still further, leading to the need for more space. A loan was secured in August of 1999 and, one year later, a new addition – the Fellowship Hall – was completed in September, 2000. Sensing a different direction in ministry, Pastor Jon resigned in April, 2001 and accepted the call to pastor at Grace Baptist Church in Cedarville, Ohio.

For the next year, the church’s youth pastor, Bob Bolds, served as the interim pastor. In February of 2002, Jim Stevanus became the church’s new senior pastor. Great things God has done and continues to do in this ministry. We invite you to become a part of something special here at Fellowship Baptist Church of Dublin!
