Meet Pastor Bob
Being the oldest in a home where divorce has left its mark is never easy, but God’s sovereignty and grace can impact even in the most difficult situations. Compounding this difficult situation I found it even more difficult to deal with anger and lonliness surrounding the circumstances of my life as a young teen. Through the faithful witness of a young Christian missionary, I accepted Christ as my personal Lord and Savior when I was 12 years old in Dayton, OH. Living in the inner city as a young teen was never the best environment for a new believer. But in addition to changing my heart, God was changing my life as well. Our family moved shortly after I accepted Chirst - this time to a small town in Northeast Ohio. It was there I began attending a small church just starting out in Mount Vernon, Ohio. Through the effective ministry of Pastor Merlyn Jones at Faith Baptist Church, a close-knit church family, and the faithful guidance of my youth group director, I began to grow and mature as a believer in Christ. Upon graduation from high school, I attended Cedarville College and later transferred to Ohio State University, where I graduated with a degree in computer science and mathematics.
I met a special young lady while attending church in Mt Vernon. While she won’t admit it, my future drive-to-be, Robin, was instantly taken by my striking good looks, sharp intellect, and muscular build. After playing hard to get, Robin finally gave in to her attraction for me and asked me out. We hit it off immediately, and were soon married where we settled in Mt Vernon, where I began work as a programmer/analyst and Robin as a legal assistant. While working with the youth group at Faith Baptist, I began to sense that God was calling me into the pastoral ministry. So, in response to God’s call to the ministry and a need for more advanced training, we left for Baptist Bible Seminary (www.bbc.edu) to begin preparation. After graduation, Fellowship Baptist Church called me as youth pastor. During this fruitful time, The Lord blessed us with two active girls (Mom says its payback), Victoria and Taylor.
God’s hand is all around us. But it’s only through a personal relationship with Him that we can fully realize true peace and happiness. I would invite you to experience that relationship personally with Him. Drop by Fellowship and let us show you how God can change your life today.
