That person is the “total package.” Though such a phrase occurs infrequently, when used it does paint quite the comprehensive picture.
For the baseball player: He can hit, field, throw and run well!
For the admired one: She has intellect, personality and looks!
Last summer, it was even the tour name for the band, New Kids on the Block. In reality, no one can ever be the total package. Everyone has flaws. Everyone has weaknesses. Everyone is deficient in parts. Everyone has limitations.
But most importantly, biblically, everyone falls short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). It’s part of being earthy. But Someone came, Someone out of this earth, who is the total package. His name is Jesus.
Though man, He is God. Though subject to sin, He knew no sin. Though under authority, He honored His Father completely. Though rejected by man, He offers complete forgiveness to man. Though crucified on a cross, He arose again on the third day. Though He ascended to heaven, His spirit is in the believer. He is the total package!
Have you turned from your inadequacy and turned to His sufficiency? He alone is the way, the truth and the life!
