You reach for the container of gasoline for your mower. You find a gallon of windshield detergent. Big difference!
You measure a cup of sugar for the cookie recipe. Only thing is, it was really salt. Big difference!
You open the drawer and take out the tube of sparkly lip gloss. You dab it on your lips. An hour later you realize it was actually sparkly clear glue. Big difference!
A wrong turn here and a wrong choice there can lead to chaos – or sticky lips! While such untimely decisions may be inconvenient and even momentarily disruptive, they likely will not impact for long. But when you pivot to eternal matters, wrong choices made here will deliver detrimental damage.
If you believe all good people go to heaven, waking up one moment after your last breath to realize there is none good, no not one (Romans 3:12) is eternally devastating.
If you believe that after you die, you die, waking up in the next life standing before God will be too late to correct your view (Hebrews 9:27; Revelation 20:12).
You really want to avoid wrong spiritual assessments. They’ll impact you for a long time – a really long time! Instead, get it right the first time.
