A scratch on the car. A word scribbled on the wall. A crack in the concrete driveway. A leak in the bathroom plumbing. A stain on the white dress. A dead spot in the grass. A cup ring on the coffee table. A loose connection in the stereo. A blemish on the face. A dropped call.
Life is filled with imperfections. They remind us that we live in a fragmented world filled with fragmented individuals who live with fragmented possessions. What today is new will tomorrow be used and ultimately break down, fall apart or become obsolete. Your trustworthy friend will sooner than later disappoint. And we haven’t even mentioned our own issues!
Thankfully, we have a God who is absolutely flawless. Though we’re fallible, He’s infallible. Though we’re finite, He’s infinite. Though we’re fickle, He’s faithful. Though we’re weak, He’s omnipotent. Though we’re limited in scope, He’s omniscient.
There is no one beside Him because no one is like Him. He dwells in unapproachable light (1 Tim. 6:16), so the Light came into the darkness so we could become children of light (Eph. 5:8). Though insufficient, in Him we have His sufficiency. So in our weakness, He is strong (2 Cor. 12:10).
Rejoice that Jesus is God. That enables Him to be Savior, Sustainer, Shepherd and Stronghold!
