What Do You Think?

The neighbors are coming over. We had better get the place really cleaned up!

I couldn’t sleep much last night. All I could think about was whether or not the boss would accept the project.

While I was presenting my paper in front of the class, one of the students had a weird smile on their face. That really bothers me.

I would never say that in front of him. What would he think about me?

We often face situations where we attach too much value to what others think about us or say about us or may do to us. It’s our human nature but as Christ followers, it doesn’t have to rule us.

Instead of first being concerned about pleasing others, we ought to be consumed with pleasing God. If, as they say, it’s good enough for Jesus, then it ought to be good enough for us. Listen to these words from the Savior:

"The Father has not left Me alone, for I always do those things that please Him.” (John 8:29)

To our Lord, pleasing the Father was first and foremost. So too it must be for us as we seek to imitate the Son and follow His steps. How that’s working for you? Is this your aim each day?
